Unlock the power of RAM with RAM OpenLink, the Developer’s Platform!

RAM International has been helping engineers be more productive by providing them with software, technical support and educational tools since 1988. Continuing in that tradition, RAM International announces the availability of RAM OpenLink, a powerfully complete suite of software development technologies. RAM OpenLink provides a streamlined way for users and 3 rd party developers to connect with the RAM Structural System by developing and linking programs to the RAM Structural System.

Through RAM OpenLink, developers have the power to retrieve structural model input, analysis and design information for a model created in RAM SS. A complete set of tools is provided to customize parts of the program and to create modules that can run seamlessly inside the RAM SS environment with the same look and feel of products developed by RAM International. This has the advantage of reducing development time for new modules. It also has the added benefit of making the various modules look and behave consistently, which reduces the learning curve for the engineer.

Graphical and Interface Components:

RAM Container:
It provides the main interface for RAM SS modules including the 2D and 3D display of the structural model as well as all the menus and toolbars for the given module.
Diagram Control:
This control is used to display moment, shear, deflection, interaction, etc diagrams for any number of continuous members.
VMD Dialog:
This dialog box can be used to display shear, moment, axial load, torsion and deflection for a given member. It can show up to 3 diagrams at the same time.
Report Generator:
The report generator is used to create all of the RAM SS reports. It provides a consistent look to all reports and significantly reduces the time required in laying out a report.
Log Dialog:
This dialog is used to inform the user of the progress of an analysis or design process.
Load Combo Generator:
This is used to generate load combinations which can then be used in the design of the structural members. The generator uses easily editable ASCII text files to generate the load combinations. This virtually eliminates the need to program load combos into the module.

Non-Graphical Components:

RAMDataAccess:
This is the tool used to programmatically access the RAM SS model database and retrieve data from it. All the model geometry and analysis results are available through this component. There are a large number of design results available for concrete beams and columns.

RAM FE:
This is the general purpose finite element analysis tool used in RAM SS. It provides all the analysis features that are available through the various modules. It uses a state of the art spars solver and object oriented programming techniques so it is quite fast and extensible.

Concrete Column Interaction Surface Generator:
This generates the concrete column Axial force and Biaxial Moment interaction surface.

Controller Module:
The controller module is the tightest level of integration with the RAM SS. It provides a way to develop programs that are fully integrated into the RAM SS through the RAM Container. The Controller Module has access to all of the graphical features that are already in RAM SS so the user can select members and change to plan/elevation/3D views and many other features that are available in other RAM SS modules.

Macro Language:
The macro language incorporates a VBA-like programming language into RAM Container. This will provide engineers with a simple, fast and practical way to add features and automate tasks that are not currently available in the program. The Macro Language also provides a mechanism to develop compiled code that can be very fast and secure so the proprietary program in the macro can not be changed or plagiarized by others.
